Wood Door Species Grading

Clear Grade Species are not currently available

Select Grade Species
     - No open knots larger than a quarter
     - No more that four knots per stile
     - No edge knots
     - All sound knots and star knots are acceptable
     - All open knots will be patch-filled flush
     - Sun Mountain does not grade for color: heartwood
       & sapwood may both be used in your door

Knotty (Character) Grade Species
     - Characterized by large open knots, star knots, and
       sound knots
     - No door has too many or to few knots
     - No door has knots that are too large or too small
     - Depending on individual knots structure, knots 
       may not be patch filled, may be partially filled, 
       or may be filled flush, at our discretion
     - Sun Mountain does not grade for color: heartwood 
       & sapwood may both be used in your door
